Overview of the Courses

CONCERT CHOIR
The main choral performing organization of Wilton High School, Concert Choir is open to all men and women interested in singing. Concert Choir performs a wide variety of music including sacred, secular, spiritual, and show tunes. Participants will perform in four annual concerts and will learn the fundamentals of voice production, music reading and rehearsal discipline. Students will be given the opportunity to sing outside the school community. A high level of commitment to rehearsals and performance is expected. Concert Choir will be a prerequisite to Madrigals and Chamber Singers.

CHAMBER SINGERS
Chamber Singers is a select group of advanced female vocalists who perform a wide range of repertoire including madrigals, show tunes and standard classical compositions written specifically for women’s voices. Members must also be enrolled in a large ensemble. Participation by audition only. Performances will include all annual choral concerts and may include other concerts both on and off campus. Members will be expected to continually demonstrate commitment to developing their vocal technique through practice beyond the school day. This includes required section rehearsals outside of class.

MADRIGAL SINGERS, Grade 10-12 
Madrigal Singers is a select group of advanced male and female vocalists specializing in the performance of unaccompanied works of all periods. Members should expect an extensive performance schedule (particularly during the holiday season) in addition to occasional evening rehearsals. Members must also be enrolled in a large ensemble. Participation by audition only. Performances will include all annual choral concerts and may include other concerts both on and off campus. Members will be expected to continually demonstrate commitment to developing their vocal technique through practice beyond the school day. This includes required section rehearsals outside of class. All members will be expected to perform with the Concert Choir.
