WHS Orchestra Concert Attire 2017-18

In order to present a uniform, professional ensemble, all students will wear matching concert tuxedos and dresses. Families are asked to purchase concert attire or obtain a used outfit from the music boosters or a friend or a sibling. Please follow these guidelines when ordering concert attire for your music student.

BOYS
The young men wear formal black tuxedos, including a formal tux shirt, cummerbund, bow tie, and studs. These may be purchased directly from Camillo’s on Main Avenue in Norwalk. The Music Department has established a special arrangement with Camillo’s to accommodate our students. The cost is $225 (jacket, pants, shirt, cummerbund, tie, and studs), with the black tuxedo shoes $25 extra. Camillo’s will also do alterations, free of charge, for the new tuxes. When the boys are fitted, Camillo’s leaves a great deal of expansion room, taking into consideration how much the boys grow in high school. The boys will receive free alterations (within reason) as they grow, however, they will NOT get a new tuxedo. All boys must wear black socks with their black shoes. Please give yourself PLENTY of lead time since the process can take several weeks. Alterations are generally needed, so Camillo’s asks for the fittings NO LATER THAN Saturday, October 21st. The first orchestra concert Wednesday, November 15th.

GIRLS
The young women wear black full-length black dresses and must wear black closed-toe shoes with a flat or low heel no more than two inches high. Dresses should be purchased from Formal Fashions, Inc. (www.formalfashionsinc.com). The music department has a long established relationship with the company; they know our district and our dress style (style #496D5AABK). You will find a sizing chart with directions for measuring for your child’s dress online. When you are ready to place your order, you MUST CALL (800) 528-7909 and speak to a fashion consultant – do not place your order online. Tell the consultant that you are with the Wilton High School Music Department. The consultant will answer any questions you may have about taking proper measurements and then help you convert your child’s measurements into the proper dress size. Please note – your child’s dress size may not correspond to her regular clothing size. The cost of the dress is $57 plus $15 for shipping. The dress will be shipped directly to your home. As soon as you receive the dress, please arrange to have it hemmed. It is important that dresses be uniform in length; the finished length of the dress should be 1 inch off the floor and touching the top of the toe of the shoe (stockings/tights should not be visible). These dresses are not stock items, but rather custom made when each order is received. In order to allow enough time to receive the dress and have it hemmed, please order your dress as soon as possible, and NO LATER THAN Monday, September 25th. The first orchestra concert is Wednesday, November 15th.
